DESCRIPTION:The Somers Point Arts Commission presents the 5th annual Art in the Park at John F. Kennedy Park. Art in the Park features the work of a number of local and regional\, professional and amateur artists for exhibit and sale; and a “plein aire” painting competition by artists painting on location. Prizes will be awarded to both professional and amateur artists; attendees to the event will vote for the People’s Choice Award. Additional fun-filled attractions will include interactive art experiences for adults and children\, entertainment by the Tom Angello Jazz Trio and by local favorite singer/guitarist Marc Wasserman. There will be a children’s clothesline art exhibit featuring the work of Somers Point Students in the after-school C.A.S.T.L.E program. Interactive art activities for children include Cardboard Construction\, Collage Corner\, Design & Paint Your Own Backpack\, Yoga and Face painting. Food vendors include Jay’s Crab Shack\, Upper Sandwiches\, Maui Joe’s Shaved Ice\, and Mr. Ice Cream Man. The event is free and open to the public.
