This event is free admission\, however we do kindly ask that you bring an unwrapped toy (please no stuffed toys) to help kick start out holiday toy drive! SUMMARY:Somers Point Good Old Days Festival 2021
DESCRIPTION:A festival featuring a variety of music (2 stages)\, antique cars\, children’s activities\, community group participation\, and hot dogs\, hamburgers\, and sodas.\nThe proceeds from the “Good Old Days” festival benefit the Lawrence “Bud” Kern Memorial Trust Fund.\nThis fund was established in 1979 to recognize graduating high school students from Somers Point who have demonstrated community spirit and pride and through their involvement in civic and scholastic activities have displayed a singular dedication to purpose.\nRecipients are chosen annually and receive scholarships ranging from $1\,000 to $3\,000. The memorial fund honors Lawrence “Bud” Kern\, former Recreation Commission Chairperson and Little League President. Bud was instrumental in the development of recreation facilities and programs within Somers Point. He expanded countless volunteer hours in service to his community. It was his idea to have an end-of-summer community picnic\, which gave rise to this event.\nThrough supporting and recognizing high school students who reflect the qualities that made Bud Kern such a special individual\, we hope in some small way to perpetuate his spirit.

SUMMARY:4th Annual Art in the Park Event
DESCRIPTION:The Somers Point Arts Commission presents the 4th annual Art in the Park at John F. Kennedy Park. Art in the Park features the work of a number of local and regional\, professional and amateur artists for exhibit and sale; and a “plein aire” painting competition by artists painting on location. Prizes will be awarded to both professional and amateur artists; attendees to the event will vote for the People’s Choice Award. Additional fun-filled attractions will include interactive art experiences for adults and children\, entertainment by the Tom Angello Jazz Trio and by local favorite singer/guitarist Marc Wasserman. There will be a children’s clothesline art exhibit featuring the work of Somers Point Students in the after-school C.A.S.T.L.E program. Interactive art activities for children include Cardboard Construction\, Collage Corner\, Design & Paint Your Own Backpack\, Yoga and Face painting. Food vendors include Jay’s Crab Shack\, Upper Sandwiches\, Maui Joe’s Shaved Ice\, and Mr. Ice Cream Man. The event is free and open to the public.
